April 30, 2021 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

It’s the last day of April, which generally means good things weather wise! We’re well into Spring by about 6 weeks now, so warmer temperatures are more common than colder ones. That also brings showers and thunderstorms, which will come up in today’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast!

That being said, it’ll be a while before they get here. A storm system will develop in Texas over the weekend, and by Monday will shoot a warm front through our area. That will be the start of several rounds of showers and storms for the first full week of May. But the first weekend of May looks fantastic! Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly clear and chilly. Lows near 40.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny, high 72.
  • Saturday night-Mostly clear, lo 42.
  • Sunday-Increasing clouds, with highs near 80.
  • Monday-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 78.
  • Tuesday-Partly to mostly cloudy, some scattered showers and storms. High 82.

The story for the weekend is the beautiful weather! We should have sunshine each day from now through early Sunday, with clear skies tonight and tomorrow night. That system coming out of Texas will increase cloud cover for our area on Sunday afternoon, but the rain should stay away during the daytime.

By Sunday night, that system will start bringing us some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, as it always is with thunderstorms. The chances of rain continue Monday as a warm front moves through, and Tuesday as a cold front gets close to us.

That cold front should move through here on Wednesday, giving us another good chance of rain and storms. A quick-moving cold front may follow that one later in the week, continuing what might be a rather rainy week ahead at this point.

Regardless of that, the next two days will be fantastic to get out and do things, and perhaps get a little work in toward getting your severe weather safe place ready and getting a kit together for it. Shoes and helmets, some water , blankets and a loud noise maker (like a stadium horn) will all help if someday a storm hits your house and causes major damage. That’s a good start, putting all that in a tote or two near your safe place will make things easier when severe weather warnings happen!

That’s it for me…I’m going to get out and enjoy the weather until the rain starts on Sunday night. Have a great weekend!
