February 16, 2021 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

The cold weather has finally arrived. That allowed us to end up with a light coating of snow on the ground in Bristol this morning, but that’s about it. New information coming in shows the chance of some freezing rain with the next system coming in tomorrow night and early Thursday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Saturday!

This most recent storm system was a crazy one, bringing freezing rain to many, a lot of snow to others, and even tornadoes from Georgia to North Carolina last night. Thankfully, that storm is out of our way. A new system is coming, and our current cold weather will feature the chance for some frozen or freezing precipitation at the onset Wednesday night. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Clouds and flurries, windy at times. Low 18.
  • Wednesday-Partly to mostly cloudy. High 46.
  • Wednesday night-Mostly cloudy, scattered snow showers or freezing rain developing. Low 33.
  • Thursday-Morning snow or freezing rain changing to all rain. High 46.
  • Friday-Snow flurries early, otherwise mostly cloudy. High 36.
  • Saturday-Partly to mostly sunny, but cold. High 38.

There are still a few snow flurries flying around the area, especially north of the Tri-Cities. That will continue through tonight before coming to an end. Wednesday should be a dry day, with perhaps the sun peeking out from time to time as we warm up to near average for this time of year.

Clouds move in Wednesday night, and there will be enough moisture to see some light snow showers at the beginning of this. That could be freezing rain at times as well. Temperatures should still warm up to above freezing during the day, so we’ll see it all change to rain during the day. Then overnight, it’s back to snow or freezing rain.

As for accumulations, we might see an inch of snow in the Tri-Cities total, but most of that will be toward the end of this new system. What we get Wednesday night will likely be washed out by rain. Folks in colder locations in the mountains may end up with more snow. IT all ends with some flurries on a cold Friday.

The weekend looks dry for the most part, with a cold Saturday in store. Sunshine is possible, which is good news! Sunday, clouds are likely to return, with some rain starting to enter the picture either late in the afternoon or early evening. We’ll have highs in the upper 40s to near 50 by that time, though.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast. Have a great Wednesday!
