The sun is out, and as I’m working from home on this Friday, lawn mowers are running outside. Temperatures are warming up, too, and we’ll have at least one good day of weather this weekend before our next chance of rain late Sunday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Monday!
As of just past noon Friday, a cold front is stretching from Michigan through Chicago and down to Oklahoma and Texas. It’s going to get close to us Saturday night, then the Texas and Oklahoma part of the system moves toward us and comes through Tennessee on Sunday. It should be late Sunday when it gets here, and rain is possible then.
Here’s the outlook, with the basic details for the next few days:
- Friday afternoon-Sunshine continues. High 64.
- Friday night-Mostly clear. Low 37.
- Saturday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 67.
- Sunday-Increasing clouds, with a small chance of rain late. High 65.
- Monday-Decreasing clouds and cooler. High 57.
High pressure will be able to help stall one cold front, potentially as far as our area into Southwest Virginia. But that second one coming in from the southwest is going to clear everything out. Despite the presence of the first front, we should have dry weather through all of Saturday and most of Sunday.
Clouds will increase ahead of the stronger front on Sunday, and on Sunday afternoon there’s a small chance of rain toward sunset. As the front moves through Sunday night, that’s when our best chances of rain are going to be.
Behind the front, cooler air comes in for Monday. Temperatures will end up in the upper 50’s at best for Monday afternoon, with morning lows back to just below freezing.
Long story short, it looks like a good weekend to be outside, especially if what you’re doing is finished by Sunday evening. With all that said, have a fantastic weekend!
