September 26, 2019 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 26, 2019

We were able to get a little rain to come out of the clouds today, but not a lot. A cold front is moving through that will end the better chances of rain, and a warm front gets us warmer weather tomorrow. Here’s the forecast!

  • Tonight-A stray rain shower early, otherwise cloudy skies. Low 58.
  • Friday-Mostly sunny, a very small chance of rain. High 88.
  • Friday night-Partly cloudy, could be a stray rain shower. Low 62.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy, some scattered showers possible. High 88.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny and hot, maybe a mountain shower. High 90.
  • Monday-Partly to mostly sunny. Highs near 90.

While there is a cold front moving through, a warm front isn’t far away. That will bring hotter weather in the coming days. And after that comes a new weak cold front. That could bring us small chance of rain through Monday, but mainly in the mountains.

These temperatures will keep us near record territory, though. Our records for Friday through Monday are all near or right at 90 degrees. Friday’s and Saturday’s (which is 89 degrees) records are fairly recent, but Sunday and Monday’s record highs of 90 were set decades ago. We haven’t seen heat like this so late in September in a long, long time.

There are small chances of rain through Monday, yes, but a lot of us will have dry weather through that point. We’re going to be without organized sources of rain for quite a while. October is normally our driest month anyway, so there might not be much rain at all through the first half of fall. Here’s hoping that does change, though.

Thanks for checking here for the broadcast! Make sure you tune in to 96.3 The Possum tomorrow night for the High School Football Game of the Week. We’ll be just up the road at Sullivan Central as the Cougars play David Crockett. We’ll be on the air at 7 PM, with kickoff at 7:30 as Rick Brooks, Matthew Hill and I call the action and –in Matthew’s case–let you know about local scores of interest as well. Remember, you can listen online at 963thepossum.com. Have a great weekend!
