November 20, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

November 20, 2018

Well, it looks like the cold air hasn’t arrived as quickly as I thought. That’s good news…the forecast wasn’t as bad as I once thought it could be. Dry weather will be in the forecast the next few days, with temperatures near normal. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Saturday!

There was a bit of snow and “temperatures falling into the 30s” for our area, but only in the Southwest Virginia highlands. Wise and Tazewell have been in the 30’s most of the afternoon, while the rest of us stayed in the mid to upper 40’s. Warmer weather is ahead, and we might stay rain free until the weekend. Here’s the outlook for the quick details:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy. Low 29.
  • Wednesday-Partly cloudy to mostly sunny. High 47.
  • Wednesday night-Partly cloudy. Lows near 30.
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. High 54.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy. High 53.
  • Saturday-Clouds and rain showers. High 57.

The cold front moved through as planned, but the movement of the cold air into our area wasn’t what I expected. Things like that happen when you’re trying to predict the future! All that said, I’ve  spent a lot of the afternoon figuring out what happened…so next time we have a situation like this one I know how to forecast it better.

Most of the precip is over for our area, with only some light snow and rain near Wytheville. That’s all moving to the east away from us. Clouds will stick around tonight, and then start moving out during the day tomorrow.

From there, we’ll have two dry days with some sunshine through Friday. Clouds increase late Friday, with rain moving in Friday night through at least Saturday morning.

That’s the forecast for today…now I’ll go back to reviewing what went wrong when I did this yesterday. Don’t forget, my forecast as available hourly on 96.3 The Possum in the Tri-Cities, along with 97.3 Love FM and WHCB 91.5 FM. Thanks for listening!
