August 12, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 12, 2018

August weather will be the plan for most of this week, with only a small chance of rain and storms each day until Friday. We’ll have temperatures a bit cooler, at least for the first couple days of the week. Welcome to this week’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast!

Tonight should be partly cloudy, as most rain is done for the night. Look out for patchy fog in the morning, and we’ll have lows around 64. Now to the outlook for this week’s forecast:

  • Monday-Partly cloudy, a small chance of rain or a thunderstorm. High 83.
  • Monday night-Partly cloudy, maybe an evening shower or storm. Low 63.
  • Tuesday-Partly sunny, maybe rain or a storm in the mountains. High 84.
  • Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 86.
  • Thursday-Partly to mostly sunny with a small chance of rain or a thunderstorm late. High 87.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 82.

We’ll be between fronts for most of the week, as a weak stationary front washes out across the South and a new cold front gets organized up north. That means partly to mostly sunny conditions each day this week, with temperatures going up each day as we go along through Thursday.

Included in that, of course, is the ever present threat of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm popping up. You know the drill, some folks will get rain while not far away there will be nothing. Rinse and repeat for most of the week.

A cold front will come in from the north on Friday. That will bring more clouds and better chances of rain and thunderstorms. Even then,. I don’t expect it to rain all day even on Friday.

Make sure to join us as high school football starts on Thursday night! With NASCAR in town, Sullivan County schools close to the track are playing on Thursday night, and it’ll be Sullivan Central at Sullivan North for the first game of the 2018 season! Join Rick Brooks, Matthew Hill and me for all the action Thursday night on 96.3 The Possum starting at 7 PM, and we’ll kick off the new season at 7:30. We’re looking forward to covering both of those teams for a second season!

Thanks for checking here for the forecast! I’ll have new ones as I can during what’s guaranteed to be a busy week…but they’re needed with NASCAR coming to town!
