May 16, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 16, 2018

It’s been a rainy day around the Tri-Cities, without a whole lot in the way of thunderstorms. Low pressure moves near us through tomorrow, which will raise chances of both rain and storms. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through the weekend!

These forecasts are supposed to be daily, and I’m working on returning to that. It’s been over a month since I’ve been able to sit down and forecast! Today I have one ready to go, so here’s the outlook to get us started.

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy, a few showers and patchy fog. Low 64.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms. High 74.
  • Thursday night-Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Low 63.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly cloudy, scattered showers and storms. High 78.
  • Saturday-Cloudy skies, off-and-on rain and storms possible. Highs near 80.
  • Sunday-Partly cloudy with a few showers and storms possible. High 82.

As you can see, we’re in the midst of an unsettled pattern over the coming days. Low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico has combined with a stalling cold front to get us in the middle of a lot of action in the atmosphere, where anything from pulse storms to soaking rains to sunshine are all possible, but none of them for very long.

Rain chances drop off once the front moves out of here, but there’s one not far away to take its place. Look for better chances of dry weather this weekend.

Remember, every day–whether there’s a blog or not–there’s a whole group of radio stations where you can hear the weather forecast and severe weather updates. I’m on most hours during the day on WHCB 91.5 FM, 96.3 The Possum (which also broadcasts on 870 AM and 100.7 FM), and 97.3 Love FM (which also broadcasts on 1090 AM, 1230 AM, and 103.3 FM). So that’s eight different places to hear what’s going on, as well as streaming online at WHCBradio.org, 963thepossum.com, and LOVEradio.fm.
