February 5, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

February 5, 2018

There hasn’t been a whole lot of rain or snow to speak of since the first of the year, but things have gotten better with relation to average precipitation in the past couple weeks. There’s more of that to come for the middle of the week, then the weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through Friday!

It’s a sunny day, but not very warm. We haven’t hit our average (around 48) this afternoon, and we likely won’t. That gets saved for tomorrow and Wednesday ahead of a cold front. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly clear. Low 27.
  • Tuesday-Partly to mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. High 48.
  • Tuesday night-Cloudy with scattered showers developing. Lows near 40.
  • Wednesday-Rain likely, could be heavy at times. High 53.
  • Thursday-Flurries in the morning, partly cloudy by afternoon. High 43.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy with a small chance of rain. High 52.

A system is going to move north of us tomorrow, and that brings a small chance of rain to the forecast during the day. I don’t think it’ll rain a lot or all day, though. Look for the best chances of rain in Southwest Virginia as the main part of the storm goes to our north.

While that’s happening, low pressure is developing in Texas. That’s going to move through southern Tennessee on Wednesday, which will be our big rain maker for the week. Rain could be heavy at times on Wednesday, especially when the lowest pressure is near our area.

That system will exit stage right after that, and we should see rain change to a few flurries Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The sky will clear after that, and Thursday afternoon through Friday should be mostly dry, with only a small chance of rain for Friday afternoon.

A preview of the weekend shows rain showers scattered around both days, but less of that and warmer conditions on Sunday. I’ve seen the number 60 thrown around!

My first official forecast for the weekend comes up tomorrow at about this time. Have a great Tuesday!
