January 29, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

January 29, 2018

It’s a bit warmer than average this afternoon, but standing outside for a few seconds can tell you that cold air is coming! Up next, how cold and how long this chilly spell will last on today’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast!

Not only cold is coming, but snow showers, twice in the coming week. Here’s the short story, as always, near the top of the blog. I’ll have details below!

  • Tonight-Cloudy with light rain changing to light snow. Little accumulation. Low 27.
  • Tuesday-Morning show flurries, but becoming partly cloudy. Windy. High 35.
  • Tuesday night-Partly cloudy and cold. Low 15.
  • Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny. Highs near 50.
  • Thursday-Increasing clouds, rain developing by afternoon. High 48.
  • Friday-Cloudy with snow flurries early. High 33.

A cold front is pretty much on top of us, as of 5 PM. That’s what’s bringing in the cold air. It’ll get through here soon, and we’ll see temperatures start to drop some, but not too much. Along with the cold front will come some clouds, that can help keep some warmth in. We might see some light rain changing to light snow or flurries overnight through tomorrow morning.

I’m not figuring on any accumulation with things tonight through tomorrow, and then we get a break tomorrow afternoon through part of Thursday. Wednesday looks like it’ll warm up at its highest point near 50, which is very nice after that cold start!

We’ll get close to that Thursday before another cold front moves through. That will bring rain Thursday afternoon, then that changes to snow Thursday night. We’ll be left with flurries on a cold, cloudy and windy day on Friday. I’m not sure about accumulations just yet, but at this point it looks like Thursday night into Friday will be similar to tonight into tomorrow.

Once this first front moves through, I’ll have a little bit better idea about what the next one should do on Thursday and Friday. Tomorrow afternoon’s forecast should come around the same time, so keep an eye out for it. Have a great Tuesday!
