January 10, 2018 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

January 10, 2018

It’s always a good thing when temperatures are warmer than expected this time of year. It looks like our high today was 64 degrees, and we might get two more days of that. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through the weekend!

There is a cost to this warmth, and that comes this weekend. Here’s the outlook, then we’ll talk about it:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 43.
  • Thursday-Increasing clouds, scattered afternoon showers. High 64.
  • Thursday night-Cloudy with scattered showers. Low 49.
  • Friday-Cloudy early, with afternoon rain likely. High 64.
  • Saturday-Cloudy with snow flurries. High 41, 30’s by afternoon.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly cloudy. High 31.

Our average temperature this time of year is around 45 degrees. So we’ve been way below it, today through Friday will be well above it, then the bottom falls out Saturday.

We stay dry tonight through a lot of tomorrow, then a cold front brings chances of rain as soon as tomorrow afternoon, with better chances tomorrow night and Friday.

A cold front is the front of a new air mass. That air mass is coming from Canada, so it’ll be cold this weekend. Our high Saturday is likely to be in the morning. Temperatures will drop thanks to cold northwest winds during the afternoon into the low 30’s.

Then Sunday won’t be warm at all, as we return to winter with highs not above freezing. We shouldn’t be too cold for too long, though.

Thanks for checking in for the forecast today! I’ll have updates the rest of the week on the rain and upcoming cold. Have a great Thursday!
