October 13, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

October 13, 2017

I’ve heard it said today that it feels like summer outside. That’s true, with temperatures in the low 80s across most of East Tennessee at mid-afternoon. Changes are coming once we get past the weekend, though. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog weekend forecast through Tuesday!

It’s a tie at 82 degrees this afternoon, at least as of just before 2 PM today, between Tri-Cities Airport, Virginia Highlands Airport, and near Sevierville. Clouds have kept the mountains cooler, where some are struggling to see 60. We might all have similar problems when it comes to Monday’s weather. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 58.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 83.
  • Saturday night-Partly cloudy. Low 58.
  • Sunday-Increasing clouds, maybe a rain shower developing late. Better rain chances Sunday night. High 83.
  • Monday-A small chance of rain early, becoming partly cloudy and cooler. High 64.
  • Tuesday-Mostly sunny. High 65.

Temperatures more than ten degrees above average for mid-October will continue through the weekend. Late Sunday, a cold front will change all of that. Rain starts to develop Sunday afternoon, but showers and storms are much more likely for Sunday night. Most of the rain–and the front–will be gone by Monday.

As we clear out Monday afternoon, temperatures will be much cooler, a bit below average. Temperatures will warm up (or stay) in the mid 60’s during the afternoon, then dropping to near 40 in the Tri-Cities, below that in the mountains. It’ll be the mid 60’s for us for Tuesday at the end of the day.

The rest of next week looks dry and cool. Temperatures should get up to the low 70’s by the end of the week for highs, with lows in the mid 40’s for the most part after we drop potentially into the 30’s Tuesday morning.

That’s it for me this week! I’ll be on Top Gun Radio tonight at 7:15 for the Sullivan County Game of the Week, the conference championship game between Sullivan North and Happy Valley! Tune in on 96.3 FM, 100.7 FM, and on Topgunradio.com for all the action. I’ll have a new forecast Sunday afternoon. Have a great weekend!
