October 1, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

October 1, 2017

October is here, and with it typically comes a few long dry spells. We ended September with one, and the first week of October looks to continue that trend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog weekly forecast!

This one won’t take long to unpack, really. There aren’t even any hurricanes to talk about in the Atlantic! So here’s the outlook for the week:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 42.
  • Monday-Mostly sunny. High 77.
  • Monday night-Partly cloudy. Low 46.
  • Tuesday-Sunny. High 79.
  • Wednesday-Sunny. Highs near 80.
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. High 81.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly sunny, a (very) small chance of rain. Highs near 80.

High pressure in the eastern part of the country is basically keeping anything from happening. As we go through the week, a cold front will move from the Plains to across the Midwest, going from basically north/south to almost entirely east/west in the process. In fact, that front will join a new system by the time we get to the end of the week.

That front will get as close as the Ohio River by Friday. That’s why I’ve posted a very small chance of rain at the end of the week. But even then, I’m not excited about rain chances at least through next weekend.

So with temperatures in the upper 70’s to close to 80 all week long for highs and mid 40’s to near 50 for lows, fall has arrived for sure. Have a great week!
