September 21, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 21, 2017

We’ve had a few more light rain showers than expected today, with a couple thunderstorms firing up in the mountains. A few showers might pop up like that tomorrow, but it looks like we’ll have dry weather for a while! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through Monday!

With those showers around, our temperatures are a tick cooler than expected, with a high of 84 so far today at the airport. Still, it’s a nice day for most, unless you were hit by a brief rain shower. The forecast doesn’t show much in the way of rain for a few days. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-A few evening showers, then partly cloudy with morning fog. Low 58.
  • Friday-Mostly sunny, a slight  chance of rain. High 86.
  • Friday night-Partly cloudy, some fog toward morning. Lows near 60.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 87.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 85.
  • Monday-Mostly sunny. High 85.

High pressure is blocking a cold front from the plains and two hurricanes in the Atlantic. Maria and Jose might do a little dance off the East Coast this weekend, while we stay dry for the most part.

Those showers that developed this afternoon will die off after dark, then we’ll have some patchy fog toward morning. A few showers and storms might pop up late tomorrow afternoon.

From there on, high pressure keeps us very warm–nearly 10 degrees above average for mid-to-late September–and dry. The warmest day looks to be Saturday, with mid 80’s likely for Sunday and Monday.

As for the hurricanes, Jose will drift around off the northeast coast until it dissipates, perhaps not before changing Maria’s path toward the ocean. For sure, as Maria moves north from near the Bahamas, seas will be quite high and there will be some gusty winds along the coast, but as long as that hurricane stays a few hundred miles offshore, folks out there can deal with the rest of it.

I’ll have another forecast pre-football tomorrow afternoon for the weekend. Have a great Friday!
