September 8, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 8, 2017

It’s a crazy time weather-wise, with three hurricanes churning and two of them about to make landfall between now and the end of the weekend. Our weather will be calm until Irma gets close late Monday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through Tuesday!

We had a record low yesterday, breaking a 29 year old record as the morning low was 45 degrees, beating 47 from 1988. This morning was a low of 44, and that’s likely a record as well. We’ll warm up a bit in the coming days as the weather stays dry through the weekend. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy, patchy morning fog. Low 48.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 74.
  • Saturday night-Partly cloudy, lows near 50.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 77.
  • Monday-Increasing clouds, with showers and storms late. Highs near 70.
  • Tuesday-Cloudy and windy with rain and thunderstorms. Highs near 70.

There was some fog as late as 10 AM in spots this morning, and that might be the case as we wake up early on Saturday. Other than that, our weather is fine through much of Monday.

By then, Hurricane Irma will likely be nearing Atlanta. By then it’ll be a tropical storm, though. Regardless, winds and rain are going to be an issue anywhere close to that storm. We’ll see showers and storms starting late Monday, with a cloudy day full of rain and wind on Tuesday.

Tropical systems often bring chances for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and flooding. Irma doesn’t look like it will stop near here like what Harvey did near Houston, but heavy rain could cause some flooding periodically, especially up in these mountains. I’ll have updates on that with my next forecast Sunday evening.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great weekend!
