August 10, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 10, 2017

It’s been a cloudy, rainy day around the area, with cooler weather in the process. Various weather systems will be in and out of here in the coming days, so expect a decent chance of rain for a while. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through the weekend!

First of all, an admission. If you’ve listened to WHCB any at all today, you heard me talk about highs around 91 degrees today. Well, if you read the blog, you know I meant 81! I didn’t catch it until almost 2:30, a few minutes before the last one was to play. So I took that one out. But yeah, I was calling for 81…have no idea where “ninety” came from!

That aside, rest assured that we won’t be seeing 90 any time in the next three days. With that, here’s the outlook through Sunday:

  • Tonight-Cloudy with scattered rain showers. Low 65.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy, scattered showers and thunderstorms at times. High 83.
  • Friday night-Cloudy with scattered showers. Low 68.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy with rain showers, most likely in the morning. High 84.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly sunny, with a few rain showers possible. High 83.

A cold front rests just northwest of here, and that’s what’s bringing our rain today. As that front slowly gets closer and moves through on Saturday, we’ll see periods of rain showers and some thunderstorms from time to time.

That doesn’t, as usual, mean we’re going to have rain all day at any point. But at any point in the coming three days, rain could be a possibility. So if you can’t hear the rain as it’s falling (something I can now do in the weather office in Blountville), then check the radar link to see if rain is close to us before you head out.

I’ll have another look at the weekend weather tomorrow afternoon. Have a great Friday!
