July 14, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

July 14, 2017

Storms are rumbling through parts of the Tri-Cities as we get to 4 PM, with some nasty storms recently near Johnson City and Blountville. We’ll see more storms off and on through Saturday, then a break late this weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Tuesday!

A cold front is near the Ohio River, and it’s helping to bring these storms to our area. If you’re going to the Funfest parade tonight, be aware that storms could still be an issue for Kingsport and all of us through the evening and into Saturday. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows near 70.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers and storms. High 85.
  • Saturday night-A small chance of rain, otherwise partly cloudy. low 65.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 87.
  • Monday-Mostly sunny, with a few afternoon showers and storms. High 88.
  • Tuesday-Mostly sunny with a small chance of showers and storms in the mountains. High 88.

As far as tonight (Friday) is concerned, be aware that storms may continue to be around through the evening. Parade goers and general running around outdoors might have some issues as the scattered storms move through from time to time. It won’t rain all the time, but when it does, you’ll want to get indoors quick.

That said, the cold front–weak as it is–gets through here tomorrow morning. So there are a few showers and storms possible even in the hours just behind it. After that, we’ll have a dry day on Sunday.

In fact, most of us will have dry weather for a lot of Monday before storms start to develop again in the afternoon. These will be normal heat of the day storms, but they do have a better chance of forming Monday afternoon than on Tuesday, when we should have a dry day except for a couple storms in the mountains.

As usual, if you’re around any thunderstorms, make sure to get either indoors or at least in your car until the storms pass. Winds will be gusty with heavy rain and lightning at times, so be aware of that from now through the first half of the weekend.

I’ll have a new forecast either tomorrow or Sunday evening. Have a great weekend!
