July 5, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

July 5, 2017

Showers and thunderstorms are moving into the area as we speak, with Sullivan County getting rain starting with Kingsport at around 5 PM. We’ll see more off-and-on storms for the next few days. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Sunday!

Temperatures are a bit scattered across the thermometers in our area thanks to some folks having storms cooling them off. The highest we’ve seen out by the airport in Blountville is 85 degrees. That looks like the high point for today in the Tri-Cities since the rain is upon us.

Here’s the outlook through the weekend:

  • Tonight-Cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Lows near 70.
  • Thursday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and storms. High 84.
  • Thursday night-Mostly cloudy, rain and storms likely. Low 68.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy with a few showers and storms. High 84.
  • Saturday-A slight chance of rain early, otherwise partly cloudy. High 84.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 84.

Temperatures in the mid-80’s will be the order of the day in the coming days, despite a cold front moving through Friday and another on Saturday. That front won’t cause much in the way of cooler temperatures, but will wipe out rain chances for most of Saturday and all of Sunday if it actually does get through our area.

Typically this time of year, fronts get close to us or even south of the Tri-Cities, then stall out and return north as a warm front, essentially doing nothing to help the heat. I’ll be watching for that to happen this weekend. Hopefully they’ll stay south of us so we can have less humidity this weekend.

Thanks for looking here for the forecast, have a great Thursday!
