July 4, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

July 4, 2017

It’s a mostly cloudy and warm Independence Day, with showers scattered around. Thunderstorms are possible later, so make sure you’re careful when you’re celebrating the day and night! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through the weekend!

We’re all reasonably close together temperature wise, thanks to clouds and some scattered showers. With upper 70’s in the mountains, everyone from Wytheville to Knoxville is generally within 10 degrees of each other, with the McGhee Tyson Airport reporting in at 82 degrees toward mid-afternoon.

There are some rain-cooled areas around, and the chances of rain are pretty decent through the celebrations tonight. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Some scattered showers and thunderstorms, otherwise cloudy skies. Low 68.
  • Wednesday-Partly to mostly cloudy with some scattered showers and storms. High 85.
  • Wednesday night-Cloudy with a few scattered showers and storms. Low 68.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy with some scattered showers and storms. High 85.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms. High 85.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy, a slight chance of rain. High 84.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 84.

A cold front looks to move through here early Saturday, keeping off-and-on rain and thunderstorms in the forecast between now and then. Be advised, though, that it won’t rain all day any day between here and (including) the weekend. Go outside, but be prepared to get indoors if you hear thunder!

Once that front gets through here (if it does…it’s always a question this time of year), we could have less humid conditions late Saturday into Sunday. There’s a long way to go before we get there, so I’ll keep an eye on it and updates will be available each day the rest of the week.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great Fourth!
