June 9, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

June 9, 2017

Get used to the sunny days around the Tri-Cities, because we’re going to see a great supply of sunshine throughout the weekend and well into next week. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Tuesday!

It’s nice and comfortable outside late this afternoon, with temperatures from the low 70’s in the mountains to the low 80’s near Knoxville. Each day will get hotter as we get into next week, as we get up close to the 90 degree mark Monday and Tuesday. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy, some fog possible in the morning. Low 55.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 84.
  • Saturday night-Fair skies. Low 57.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 87.
  • Monday-Sunny and hot, a small chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. Highs near 90.
  • Tuesday-Sunny and hot, with a slight chance of a popup shower or thunderstorm. Highs near 90.

High pressure is going to park itself almost on top of us and stay there for quite a while. That happens to us a lot in summer, and that’s a lot of how we get our heat during this time of year.

With that said, we start out comfortable, with highs in the mid 80’s on Saturday and toward the upper 80’s on Sunday. No rain is expected in the area through the weekend.

That changes starting on Monday, as the sun will make more and more momentum toward that 90 degree mark. I think we’ll get there on Monday as well as Tuesday. There is a small chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm west of the Tri-Cities on Monday, and any of us could see one of those on Tuesday. Regardless, for most of us it’ll be sunny and hot for the start of next week.

Things will get warmer and more muggy over the course of the next few days, so the best time to get things done outdoors that involve lots of time out there will be Saturday and Sunday. After that, early in the morning and during the evening will be the safest times to avoid issues with the heat.

I’ll have a new forecast ready to go sometime Sunday evening. Have a great weekend!
