June 6, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

June 6, 2017

It’s been a warm day full of both sun and clouds in the Tri-Cities. We’re going to see more warmth and more sun and clouds throughout today’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast!

This afternoon is still cooler than average, but only a little bit. By 4pm it was 79 degrees at the airport, and our average high for early June is 81. Not much difference. In fact, we’re all about a dozen degrees apart, with low 80’s in downtown Knoxville, and upper 60’s in spots in the mountains.

We do have one day with a decent chance of rain in the next five days, but things look dry for the most part. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 52.
  • Wednesday-Partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. High 78.
  • Wednesday night-Partly cloudy. Low 55.
  • Thursday-A mix of clouds and sun, with a few afternoon showers and storms. High 75.
  • Friday-Mostly sunny. Highs near 80.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 85.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 89.

I’m watching low pressure near the Gulf Coast that is developing near New Orleans. Add in the cold front that just went through, and it looks like we’ll see the low go across the Gulf Coast and up the coast of the Carolinas through Thursday.

So, look for a small chance of rain tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night in the mountains. The closest that low will be is east of the North Carolina coast through Thursday. As it arrives there, rain chances go up for Thursday, especially east of the Tri-Cities.

As that low moves away, it’ll be a lot like a post-tropical environment, as skies clear and we’ll have warm weather for a while. It won’t be too humid, either, at least through Saturday with dry days.

By Sunday, we’ll see heat returning, as we get close to 90 degrees. More rain chances come in early next week.
