June 2, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

June 2, 2017

The closer we get to the weekend, the better the weather looks to be! That’s good news to be sure, with summer-like temperatures through Sunday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through  Tuesday!

It’s been a beautiful, warm day today, with temperatures late in the afternoon ranging from 71 degrees in western North Carolina to the mid-80’s near Knoxville. We’ll add a few degrees to that this weekend before we cool back down next week. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Fair. Low 54.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 86.
  • Saturday night-Partly cloudy. Low 55.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly sunny, maybe a couple showers and storms in the mountains. High 87.
  • Monday-Showers and storms likely. High 78.
  • Tuesday-Partly cloudy, a small chance of rain early. High 75.

High pressure will be just north of us through the weekend, providing us with dry and warm weather! Look for the weather this weekend to be fantastic and warm through Sunday.

This type of summer pattern will start to lend itself to some rain late Sunday afternoon in the mountains ahead of that cold front coming in from the northwest. It will move through on Monday, bringing us a good chance of rain and thunderstorms off and on for a good part of the first day of next week.

After that, temperatures cool to below average for Tuesday, but a mainly dry day. We could have a couple stray rain showers lingering around early in the day on Tuesday, but that should be it for the rest of the day.

So, get out and enjoy the weekend! Just make sure to stay cool (it’ll be a little toasty in the upper 80’s), and keep the sunscreen nearby. I’ll have a new forecast for next week on Sunday evening. Have a good one!
