May 8, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 8, 2017

It’s a sunny afternoon, with decent temperatures despite the wind. Clouds and rain start to move in tonight, which makes for an interesting week. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

Temperatures go from the upper 50’s in the mountains to just above 70 near Knoxville this afternoon with all the sunshine. Changes are coming, so here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Increasing clouds, rain develops by morning. Low 50.
  • Tuesday-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. High 74.
  • Tuesday night-Partly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Low 58.
  • Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny at times, a small chance of rain. Highs near 80.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers and storms. High 77.
  • Friday-Rain likely with scattered thunderstorms. High 72.

A warm front will get close to us through Wednesday, then it’ll stall near here before washing out on Thursday. That will be enough to bring pockets of showers and storms around from time to time starting after midnight tonight and running all the way through Thursday.

After that, a cold front approaches, bringing big chances of showers and storms for Thursday and Friday. While it doesn’t look like we’ll see any “all-day” rain events, if that’s to happen the most likely day will be Friday.

Thanks for looking to the blog for the forecast. Have a great Tuesday!
