May 4, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 4, 2017

The clouds and rain have arrived, and we’re going to see more of that for a while. Blackberry winter is happening this weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Monday!

Temperatures here are in the upper 60’s in spots, with folks near Knoxville in the low 70’s. Out in Mississippi, temperatures are mostly in the 50’s. That cool air is on its way starting tomorrow. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Scattered showers with maybe a thunderstorm. Low 53.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs early near 60 but dropping.
  • Friday night-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Low 45.
  • Saturday-Clouds with light rain showers. High 58.
  • Sunday-Becoming partly cloudy. High 62.
  • Monday-Mostly sunny. High 64.

A cold front moves through tonight, but the low pressure behind it will take its time moving toward the northeast. That will bring in the cold air from the north for the weekend.

That low will also keep clouds around here through Saturday, keeping our temperatures quite low. If we hit 60 tomorrow, it will be near midnight and temperatures will drop from there. Saturday will be chilly with rain showers, feeling similar to November.

Frost is possible early Sunday morning, then we start a rebound. It’ll be partly cloudy Sunday, then a full day of sunshine comes up Monday as we get back into the mid 60’s then. It looks right now that there will be more sun and clouds for most of next week, but a lot of things have to happen before we can be too sure of that.

I’m off duty tomorrow and Saturday, so this is basically my weekend forecast. I’ll be back on Sunday with a forecast for next week.

If you’re wondering about Sullivan South baseball in the district tournament, they’re supposed to play tomorrow night at 8:30 at J Fred Johnson Stadium in Kingsport. Should that game get rained out, they’ll play Saturday at 1:30pm. Either way, I won’t be on hand for those games, so get out and watch them! The earliest I’ll be back on duty will be Sunday should the Rebels play that day. From there, games will be on Top Gun Radio through the end of the season.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great weekend!
