April 28, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

April 28, 2017

It’s a beautiful sunny day, and getting quite warm! Record breaking heat is likely tomorrow, with a small chance of rain each day this weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through Tuesday!

So…have you done the homework yet? If not, don’t worry. Severe weather isn’t in the forecast for a while, so you can get links to the reading materials at the April 27th blog. Now here’s the weekend outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 60.
  • Saturday-Mostly sunny and hot, a pop-up thunderstorm may happen in the afternoon. Highs near 90.
  • Saturday night-Maybe an evening shower, otherwise partly cloudy. Low 62.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly sunny, with a small chance of afternoon showers and storms. High 87.
  • Monday-Scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 77.
  • Tuesday-Partly to mostly sunny and windy. High 74.

Clearly, tomorrow is when the record breaking heat is possible. A warm front is moving through our area, and that’s the cause for the possible (if not likely) 90 degrees by the end of tomorrow afternoon. The record for April 29 is 86 degrees, set in 1996. So we have a good chance of a record breaker tomorrow!

Each day this weekend there’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. This is a summer type thing where storms may pop up in the heat of the afternoon. There’s a better chance of rain late Sunday, but not much. Many of us could stay dry all weekend.

That said, a cold front moves through here on Monday, and that will bring a line of scattered showers and storms through here to start the month of May. We could get a decent amount of rain out of this, and gusty winds are likely as well.

The cold front does its job, and by Tuesday we’ll have highs only in the mid-70’s. Our average is at 71 for this time of year, so that will be closer than we’ve been in quite a while to that. For the rest of the week, Wednesday looks mostly dry, with a chance of heavy rain possible Thursday and Friday.

I’m going to take tomorrow off, and I’ll be back with a weekly forecast through Friday when I get in Sunday evening. Have a great weekend!
