April 7, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

April 6, 2017

On Twitter, I made the observation after walking to the radio station’s mailbox that it feels like November, not April today. Indeed it does, and tomorrow won’t feel all that warm. After that, we’ll have some fantastic weather on the way! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Monday!

Thankfully, the storms that did arrive last night didn’t do much. Most of the severe storms were south of us, except one storm near Knoxville. After that, we just received a decent amount of rain, which was definitely needed!

A dry spell is coming, but not before a little snow tonight for some. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Rain and snow showers. More snow in the mountains (maybe 2″ up there). Low 35.
  • Friday-Morning snow flurries, becoming partly cloudy. High 48.
  • Friday night-Partly cloudy, freeze possible, with lows near 30.
  • Saturday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 63.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 72.
  • Monday-Mostly sunny. High 78.

Moisture coming in from the northwest behind the low that brought the storms last night has brought light rain showers or drizzle today. Snow has already been reported on Holston Mountain today, and that will continue up there through Friday. For the rest of us, light rain mixes with light snow tonight through tomorrow morning, with little accumulation expected in the Tri-Cities.

After that, our sky will clear out somewhat tomorrow afternoon, then more clearing happens Saturday. We’ll see beautiful weather this weekend, as we’ll return to the 70’s as early as Sunday afternoon.

Hang in there! This cold snap won’t last long at all. Have a great Friday!
