April 3, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

April 3, 2017

The first weekday of a new month is always a busy time at the weather office…or the weather “cubby” as it’s called now…but there has been enough time today to crank out a forecast. Here’s today’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast through Friday!

Knoxville just reported the highest rainfall for an April 3 in recorded history today, and we’ve had a lot of rain around here today, as well. That should be ending, with only stray showers possible in the coming hours. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Cloudy with a few scattered showers. Low 53.
  • Tuesday-A slight chance of morning rain, otherwise partly cloudy. High 72.
  • Tuesday night-Partly cloudy. Low 49.
  • Wednesday-Increasing clouds, rain and storms possible late. High 75.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy and windy with scattered showers. High 55.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy, scattered rain showers, mixing with snow in spots. High 45.

A cold front is on its way through here, and when that’s done, we’ll get high pressure and our best chance at a totally dry day tomorrow. Much of Wednesday will be dry before rain moves in late.

If you’re interested in the Chop House Classic baseball tournament in Kingsport and Johnson City starting Thursday, rain and cold will dominate the forecast for the early two days of that tournament. Thursday’s high of 55 degrees will likely happen early in the day, with temperatures dropping throughout.

I’ll be at that tournament broadcasting for Sullivan South on Friday as the Rebels play two at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport and then play the Abingdon Falcons on Saturday afternoon at J. Fred Johnson Stadium in Kingsport. If you’ve put the cold weather stuff in the closet, you might want to get it back out, regardless of whether or not you’re going to baseball games!

An update on the late week chill and the weekend comes up tomorrow…a day that will hopefully be much calmer. Have a great Tuesday!
