March 30, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

March 30, 2017

Clouds have arrived, a bit earlier than scheduled. Rain is not coming from them just yet, but even that will change before tonight is over. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Monday!

Storms do exist, but as of 6 PM they are way out in West Tennessee. The entire line is moving west to east, but the individual storms are almost on a south-to-north trajectory. So it’ll take a long time for the storms to get here. When they do arrive, storms could be quite strong, and maybe severe. Through early tomorrow morning, storms could bring us some damaging wind gusts and hail.

All that said, we have a fine weekend ahead once we get the cold front out of here! Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy, thunderstorms moving in after midnight. Low 57.
  • Friday-Cloudy with showers and storms in the morning, scattered showers in the afternoon. High 64.
  • Friday night-Partly to mostly cloudy, a few evening rain showers. Low 43.
  • Saturday-Becoming partly cloudy. High 63.
  • Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 74.
  • Monday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms. High 73.

A warm front moved through today, which caused much warmer temperatures (even more so than normal) between the Tri-Cities and western North Carolina. That’s also the reason for the clouds we have outside this afternoon.

Those clouds may help us when the storms arrive tonight. A good supply of sunshine today would’ve created an explosive environment for those storms to intensify overnight. Thanks to those clouds today and darkness tonight, storms shouldn’t be as strong.

However, don’t let your guard down! At the very least, anyone sleeping has a good chance of being awakened by storms tonight, especially kids. Keep that in mind if you’re a parent tonight.

Some of the storms will linger around early tomorrow, and we’ll have scattered showers behind the cold front. Those rain showers should end tomorrow night for sure.

After that, a beautiful weekend is ahead. It’ll be a little cool on Saturday, with temperatures in the low 60’s as clouds move out. Sunday looks fantastic, as we should get up into the mid 70’s.

A new cold front arrives Monday, and that will bring clouds and showers and storms back into our area early next week.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast! I’ll be online tonight checking radar for storms through tomorrow morning, so if anything happens, I’ll be on Twitter talking about it @wxmc @whcbradio and @topgunradio. Have a great and safe night!
