March 22, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

March 22, 2017

The rain is gone, and the sun is here! It looks like we’ll be saying goodbye to clouds and enjoying clear conditions for the next few days, with the next rain chances not until Saturday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through the weekend!

Since I’ve already stolen my own thunder, let’s go right to the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly clear. Low 28. (Freeze Warning until 10 AM)
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs near 60.
  • Thursday night-Partly cloudy. Low 37.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly sunny. Highs near 70.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy, a couple rain showers possible late. High 73.
  • Sunday-Rain likely, with possible thunderstorms. Highs near 70.

High pressure will be north of us in the coming days, moving from Lake Michigan to the Northeast by tomorrow. That will essentially keep a cold front from getting here, pushing it back north as a warm front long before it has a chance to get here.

A cold front will be developing this week, and by Saturday afternoon will start to change our weather. Clouds will increase late Saturday, with rain as soon as late afternoon for some. The rest of us will see most of the rain Saturday night and Sunday, with a few thunderstorms possible as well.

Meanwhile, temperatures will be quite nice. Daytime highs on average are in the low 60’s for us this time of year, and we’ll hit that tomorrow. After that, each afternoon all the way through the forecast will end up 10-12 degrees above that!

As for lows, tonight will be colder than average, with near average lows tomorrow night, and probably into the low 40’s each evening Friday through Sunday.

That means it’ll be perfect baseball weather! Tomorrow afternoon we’ll have Sullivan South vs. David Crockett on Top Gun Radio (870 AM, 100.7 FM and on the TuneIn app) starting at 4:45, with first pitch at 5 PM. I’ll have all the action as the rebels take on a non-conference opponent in Colonial Heights. Make sure to tweet me @wxmc if you’re tuned in!
