March 21, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

March 21, 2017

You know how things change sometimes and it completely throws you off? Yeah, that happened to me yesterday when one of my forecasting resources went away! That partially explains why it didn’t rain today when I thought it would! So now that I’ve replaced the missing piece, here’s a new Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast that includes this weekend!

If you’re headed to Knoxville or Chattanooga, or know someone who is, there’s a Severe Thunderstorm Watch down that way until 10 pm. So keep that in mind or shoot a text or call to anyone who might be going that way tonight. Storms are moving through Tennessee and into Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina, mostly missing us to the south.

Rain is possible tonight, but it won’t be nearly as bad as is expected down that way. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a few rain showers possible. Low 42.
  • Wednesday-Decreasing clouds. High 57.
  • Wednesday night-Partly cloudy with a few sprinkles. Low near 30.
  • Thursday-Partly to mostly sunny. High near 60.
  • Friday-Mostly sunny. High near 70.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy with a small chance of rain late. High 72.
  • Sunday-Mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers and storms. Highs near 70.

A cold front moved through earlier today, and did bring a bit of rain this morning. It is continuing its dive slowly to the south, and with it will go most of the showers and storms. We could see one or two rain showers tonight, but the better chances of that will be for Johnson City, Jonesborough, Greeneville, and points south.

After that, high pressure moves in and we can enjoy a few dry days. That starts tomorrow as clouds move out, with only a couple sprinkles possible tomorrow night. Thursday and Friday will be dry with temperatures warming up.

In fact, we should see dry weather most of the way through Saturday, with only a small chance of rain late in the afternoon. Our best chances of rain for the weekend will be Saturday night and into Sunday.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great Wednesday!
