March 11, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast Update

March 11, 2017

As promised, here’s the update to the forecast, and while there will still be snow, there won’t be much of it. Low pressure that was supposed to be near Georgia and the Carolinas is in the Gulf of Mexico and near Florida.

That shift in track means that the heavier precipitation will also be south of us. Snow has been reported in Nashville today, with a mix of rain and snow just reported in Huntsville, Alabama.

All of that means that if we get one inch of snow with this, we’ll be either in the mountains or extremely lucky. There just won’t be enough moisture up here to get any more than that. In the mountains, though, a few inches of snow may be possible, with more the farther south you go.

From here, all eyes move to Monday. An Alberta Clipper is on its way, and while the system to our south stalls a bit, that system will come in quicker from the northwest. We may see some light snow early Monday, but that’ll change to rain as the front approaches.

That front sweeps everything out of here on Tuesday, and behind it will be a pretty big cold snap. The last few days of next week looks to have temperatures below normal thanks to high pressure over us.

Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour tonight! I’ll be up making sure the radio stations keep up with that before I get some sleep tonight. Daylight Saving Time is about to begin, which means daylight will end one hour later!

I’ll have another forecast tomorrow afternoon, with the latest on the early week system  and the cold weather late in the week. Have a blessed Sunday!
