March 8, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

March 8, 2017

Over the next two months or so, we might have a good number of short forecasts coming your way from this blog. Baseball season is beginning, and my third season of play-by-play for the Sullivan South Rebels will be here on Monday. So, from time to time we’ll go outlook-only on the blog, in all honesty just to get me out of here in time to get to the ballpark to prepare! So keep that in mind, and I’ll do my best to get full forecasts on here each day.

That said, I’ll do today in similar fashion, but we’re going to have interesting weather this weekend, so a short discussion will ensue after the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly clear. Low near 30.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy. Highs near 70.
  • Thursday night-Increasing clouds, with rain developing. Low 45.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy, with scattered showers. High 55.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy, a rain shower or two late. High 47.
  • Sunday-Cloudy with scattered snow showers. High 38.

Yes, that’s a 32 degree temperature difference between Thursday and Sunday. THAT is what warrants an explanation!

Our first cold front will move through here by Friday morning, dropping our temperatures some during the day. Saturday will be cool in response, but we won’t have time to warm up much before a new system arrives on Saturday night.

That system will likely bring snow in here. It’s too early to talk about how much, but with warm ground around much of the area thanks to the warm temperatures, any computer models will likely overshoot what we actually get. That’s because much of the snow will melt when it hits the ground!

I’ll keep an eye out on the situation, but there’s a chance that being out late Saturday night may be a bad idea. Things will become clearer tomorrow and definitely Friday, so watch for updates then!
