February 20, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

February 20, 2017

From time to time, the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds on a warm Monday afternoon. Our weather stays mostly warm through most of the week, with some rain to come. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

Officially, the 70 mark has been reached today. The record for the day is 72, but with about an hour left and clouds around, we may have difficulty getting that far. Everyone is quite warm, with low 60’s in the mountains and most of us close to that 70 mark. Temperatures above average continue all week long. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly to mostly cloudy. Low 42.
  • Tuesday-Partly to mostly cloudy, a couple stray rain showers late. High 68.
  • Tuesday night-Cloudy with scattered showers. Low near 50.
  • Wednesday-More clouds and scattered showers. High near 60.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy, a few stray rain showers. High near 70.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy, rain moving in late, with storms overnight. High 74.

The big change in the forecast comes on Wednesday. The computer models are showing me a cloudy, drizzle filled day as a cold front approaches. If that’s the case and we don’t get much sun, temperatures in the mid-60s might not happen. So I’ve taken the ten degree drop in Wednesday’s forecast from what I saw yesterday.

Aside from that, there’s not much difference. There may be a rain shower late tomorrow, but most of the rain should happen tomorrow night and into Wednesday. A few rain showers are possible Thursday, before a mainly dry Friday.

Thunderstorms are a possibility with a cold front moving through Friday night. I’ll keep an eye on this in the coming days, as these storms might be rather strong. I’ll update you throughout the week on the details. Have a great Tuesday!
