February 1, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

February 1, 2017

A new month has begun, and we’ve started off warmer than average for the first day of February. We’ll stay that way temperature wise for tomorrow and Sunday, with scattered rain chances in between. More details are forthcoming in today’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast.

The colder parts of our area this afternoon are Southwest Virginia, with temperatures not getting above 50 late this afternoon. In the Tri-Cities, most of us are at least close to 60 despite a north wind that makes things feel a bit cooler at times. We’ll cool off from today’s temperatures a little in the coming days, with small chances of rain off and on through Friday. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy, a rain shower or two is possible late. Low 39.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy, maybe some sprinkles or fog early on. High 52.
  • Thursday night-Mostly cloudy, a few sprinkles or flurries late. low 28.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly cloudy, maybe a rain or snow shower in the mountains early. High 45.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy. High 45.
  • Sunday-Mostly cloudy, rain developing in the afternoon. Highs near 50.

Over the next couple days, rain chances are barely enough to mention, but do have to be there. Low pressure will be moving through the South between now and Friday, and that might kick off some rain showers or flurries at times, depending on temperature. I think most of the time we’ll stay dry thorough Saturday.

A cold front will move through our area Sunday, and that will bring good chances of rain with it. We might get most of the morning in before the rain arrives.

I’ll have updates on that coming up tomorrow. Have a great Thursday!
