January 27, 2017 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

January 27, 2017

Friday has been cold and snowy, but at least in the Tri-Cities, the snow isn’t accumulating just yet. We’ll get a break in snow showers for a while tomorrow and into Sunday before more shows up in time to finish the weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Tuesday!

While we’ll finish the month of January close to average, it’s been quite a bit warmer than that at times. The next few days will clearly be colder than usual for late January, with clouds and snow keeping temperatures down in the coming days. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly cloudy, with more scattered snow showers. Little to no accumulation. Low 25.
  • Saturday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with a few morning flurries. Highs near 40.
  • Saturday night-Mostly cloudy with some flurries possible. Low 27.
  • Sunday-Mostly cloudy, with rain and snow showers developing in the afternoon. High 38.
  • Monday-Cloudy with scattered morning snow showers. High 32.
  • Tuesday-Partly to mostly cloudy. Highs near 50.

We won’t see an actual cold front move through here until Wednesday, but there’s enough low pressure around to keep things cloudy and snow showers coming off and on through Monday. We’ll get a break in snow showers for much of Saturday, before it starts up again Saturday night.

Best  chances of snow accumulation this weekend appears to be late Sunday into early Monday. We may see an inch of snow or so in the Tri-Cities with this, but folks near the North Carolina border could see 2-3 inches of snow by the time it’s all over on Monday. More snow is likely with that round compared to what we’ve seen today, that’s for sure.

After the snow on Monday, a warm front moves through Tuesday. That will warm us back up to near 50 degrees by the end of the day, before a cold front comes in on Wednesday.

I’ll be back with another forecast on Sunday evening. Have a great weekend!
