November 27, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

November 27, 2016

We’ve had a pretty dry weekend, adding to our drought that’s seen us stay well below normal for most of the year. It’s gotten worse recently, but a little help is on the way this week! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

A couple cold fronts will move through around the middle of the week, and that will provide us with a good amount of rain that we haven’t seen since at least September! We’ll dry out a bit for the beginning of December as we finish off the week, but clouds might stay around. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows near 30.
  • Monday-Partly cloudy and windy. High 61.
  • Monday night-Cloudy with scattered showers possible. Low 51.
  • Tuesday-Mostly cloudy, rain likely with possible thunderstorms. Highs near 70.
  • Wednesday-Mostly cloudy, with rain showers likely. Heavy rain at times. High 67.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy, light rain or drizzle possible. High 48.
  • Friday-Decreasing clouds. High 48.

We’ll stay dry through Monday as high pressure drifts off the coast of North Carolina during the day tomorrow. The cold front in the plains will push that high pressure out as it brings rain in. Winds will pick up starting Monday afternoon thanks to that, so we’re under a Wind Advisory for Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning.

Rain should hold off until Monday night, when a few showers are possible. The better chances of rain, by far, are Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ll see a good chance of rain and possible thunderstorms Tuesday during the day, then we’ll get a break. More rain comes with a new system on Wednesday.

After that, we’ll have clouds hanging around for a couple days. Thursday looks like a cloudy and gloomy day, typical for November. Friday might start out that way, but sunshine will be possible during the day, especially the afternoon hours.

We won’t end the drought this week, but we’ll hopefully put a big dent in the rain deficit we have for the year. We might see an inch of rain before this week is out, something we really need!
