November 8, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

November 8, 2016

It’s Election Day, and as I finally sit down to write the blog, polls are about to close soon! Rest assured, that is the only thing I plan to say about the whole situation. The main thing is, what’s the deal with the smoke? I’ll answer that and talk about when it departs in tonight’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast!

Regardless of said smoke, it would’ve been cloudy today anyway, as a cold front is headed our way. The fires that are happening south and southwest of the Tri-Cities are sending smoke up here thanks to the winds ahead of that cold front. It appears that the worst of the smoke is clearing above us, and breathing shouldn’t be a big deal tomorrow as winds start kicking up. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Cloudy with rain showers likely, mainly after midnight. Low 48.
  • Wednesday-Partly cloudy, a few rain showers early, windy and cool. High 55 (early in the day).
  • Wednesday night-Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Low 35.
  • Thursday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 62.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly sunny, a couple stray rain showers possible. Highs near 60.

Today was cooler than expected, but right at where we should be this time of year. The cold front will bring some light rain, nothing too heavy, tonight into tomorrow morning. After about mid-morning, the rain should be gone. We’ll start clearing off after that.

As mentioned earlier, the winds will be gusty behind the front, which will change the direction of the smoke, and specifically get it out of here. So if you’re like me and have respiratory issues, things should be better by tomorrow for sure.  I stepped outside earlier this evening and it felt like there was more fresh air around than there was earlier in the afternoon.

Once the front blows through, high pressure will be around through Thursday, bringing another short dry spell. We’ll keep temperatures around average for this part of November, though. After that, another cold front zips through here on Friday. As of now, it looks like a dry front, so rain chances are small for now.

As for the weekend, we’ll be cooler than normal! Lows Sunday morning in the Tri-Cities might end up in the upper 20’s, with highs near 50 on Saturday and close to 60 on Sunday.

I’ll have a full look at the weekend forecast tomorrow. Have a great evening!
