October 10, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

October 10, 2016

Calm weather has returned, which makes for a reasonably simple forecast in the coming days! The short version of the forecast is that it’s finally feeling like fall! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

Cooler conditions are the order of the day where you’d expect, with low to mid 60’s toward mid-afternoon in the mountains. It took the Tri-Cities most of the day to hit 70, and folks around Knoxville were about five degrees warmer than that. Afternoon highs should stay in the low to mid 70’s this week, with lows near 40 or in the low 40’s. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Mostly clear, with a little fog in spots by morning. Lows near 40.
  • Tuesday-Mostly sunny. High 74.
  • Tuesday night-Mostly clear, patchy overnight/early morning fog. Low 39.
  • Wednesday-Mostly sunny. High 76.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy, a small chance of rain, mainly in the mountains. High 73.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 73.

High pressure keeps us sunny, not humid, and generally close to average temperatures for this time of year. By Wednesday we might end up a handful of degrees above that normal in the low 70’s.

A cold front will move through on Thursday, but it looks rather dry right now, and most of the meat of the storm will be blocked away from us by that high pressure ridge over us. That’s a good thing for sunny days, but definitely not if you’re looking for rain anytime soon.

As it stands, most of us should stay dry through Friday. There’s a small chance of a rain shower Thursday, but I think the best chances of that will be in the mountains.

Saturday looks interesting from a long term standpoint, with a little disturbance moving in. That could bring some scattered rain showers, or possibly a cloudy, chilly, drizzle filled day. I’ll keep an eye on that, and the cold front that will follow it Sunday.

My first official look at the weekend happens tomorrow afternoon. Have a great Tuesday!
