September 27, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 27, 2016

Clouds are hanging tough this afternoon, after a good amount of rainfall last night and early today. The front that caused those things in the first place is gone, but another one is soon to arrive as early as Wednesday afternoon. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through the weekend!

As it normally is, temperature differences around the area are smaller when clouds are around. As of 4pm, the lowest temperatures were near 70 (NC/VA mountains), while the highest were near 80 (near Knoxville). Clearing is already trying to take place thanks to dry air moving in, but it’s taking a bit. We’ll get some sunshine today and a some tomorrow before rain returns. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Patchy fog is possible late. Low 50.
  • Wednesday-Increasing clouds. A few afternoon showers and storms are possible. High 78.
  • Wednesday night-Scattered showers likely, maybe a thunderstorm. Low 54.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy, with a few scattered rain showers. High 65.
  • Friday-Partly to mostly cloudy, a few scattered showers. High 64.
  • Saturday-Partly cloudy. Highs near 70.
  • Sunday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 73.

A new cold front will develop to our north tonight, and that will move our way tomorrow. Low pressure that triggers the front will linger around the Cincinnati area, and that will bring us a decent chance of rain tomorrow night through Friday. However, all-day washouts are not expected.

However, there is a good chance we may not see much of the sun Thursday or Friday. Should that be the case, temperatures during the day will be quite cool. We likely won’t see 70 after tomorrow until the weekend.

That low pressure looks to move up into Canada this weekend. There might be a few showers early Saturday, but the weekend will be mostly dry. Clouds will slowly disappear on Saturday, with a good supply of sunshine a good possibility on Sunday. We’ll hit the 70 mark Saturday, and get up into the low 70’s on Sunday.

I know I promised a weather blog this weekend about the National Weather Association meeting in Norfolk that I attended a while back. Needless to say, events in Knoxville hampered those efforts (Go Vols!). That blog IS coming, and I’ll try to get it on here on a Saturday in the next few weeks. It will be interesting, for sure, and not NEAR as long as 2011 or 2013!

Thanks for checking here for the forecast today. Have a great Wednesday!
