September 27, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 26, 2016

Rain! It’s finally back! September is normally a dry month, so it’s not totally unexpected to have a small rain total as we see the end of the month nearing. We’re going to get rain tonight thanks to a cold front, and another one should bring us more rain later in the week. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

Thanks to that rain and the clouds, temperatures are generally within 10 degrees from the colder spots to the warmer ones. The North Carolina mountains were in the mid-60’s late this afternoon, with the Tri-Cities close to 70. Warm spot was Marion, at 77. After tomorrow, even that number won’t be seen for a while. Here’s the outlook:

  • Tonight-Scattered showers, maybe a rumble of thunder. Low 61.
  • Tuesday-Morning showers, then becoming partly cloudy late. High 77.
    • Tuesday night-Partly cloudy, much cooler. Low 48.
  • Wednesday-Partly cloudy, a few showers, possible afternoon storms. High 75.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy, with a few rain showers and maybe a thunderstorm. High 64.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy, with light rain possible. High 64.

Cold front number one is just to our northwest, in Eastern Kentucky this afternoon. It will move through tonight, bringing rain through here with it. Rain should start to taper off in the morning, and clouds should decrease during the afternoon.

We’ll have a dry Tuesday night and a mostly dry Wednesday before another cold front comes in. That will bring rain showers late Wednesday, Wednesday night, and during part of the day on Friday. Clouds could be plentiful, which will keep temperatures about ten degrees below normal on Thursday.

Friday might have a couple rain showers, but will have lots of dry spots as well, with highs in the mid 60’s.

The weekend looks mostly dry right now, and cooler than this past weekend. A small chance of rain exists for Saturday at this point. I’ll have more on the weekend forecast tomorrow!
