September 25, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

September 25, 2016

It turned out to be a beautiful weekend, but where’s the rain? While September isn’t normally a wet month, it’s been a dry year, so we could use all the rain we can get. It does appear that rain will occur as early as Monday afternoon! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for this week!

I spent some time in Boone today watching Appalachian State’s field hockey team play, and it was a gorgeous day up there. There were clouds from some early morning fog still around until just before 1pm, then the sun came out! It got warm at times there, but not close to the 90 we saw down here today! Cooler temperatures are on the way, though, for all of us! Here’s the outlook through Friday:

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 62.
  • Monday-Partly cloudy early, with more clouds late. Some showers and thunderstorms are possible. High 84.
    • Monday night-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. Lows near 60.
  • Tuesday-Mostly cloudy, with rain early. Decreasing clouds possible by afternoon. High 77.
  • Wednesday-Mostly sunny early, but clouds and a few showers are possible late. High 72.
  • Thursday-Partly cloudy, a few rain showers possible. High 67.
  • Friday-Partly cloudy, a few rain showers are possible as well. High 72.

A cold front is west of us, from Wisconsin through Iowa down into Missouri through Texas. That will move through our area on Tuesday morning. As it approaches, rain chances will rise as we get into the afternoon tomorrow. Our best chances of rain, though, appear to be Monday night as the rain ahead of the front arrives.

A couple rain showers might happen early Tuesday, but we’ll stay dry for the most part after noon. The early part of Wednesday should be dry as well, with a small chance of rain late.

Low pressure might bring more clouds into the area late Wednesday and through Friday, which means rain is possible as well. We’ll see how that part of our week’s weather plays out in the next couple days. I’m very interested in whether rain spins in here late this week or not, so I’ll definitely keep an eye on that!

Meanwhile, the sun should be out off and on the latter part of the week. We’ll cool off drastically, from our 90 today to the mid 80’s tomorrow, then upper 70’s for Tuesday. There’s a good chance that we won’t see 70 if there is a lot of cloud cover on Thursday. We’ll see what happens!
