August 22, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 22, 2016

It’s been a gorgeous day around the Tri-Cities, somewhat making up for the dreary weekend. If you’re headed out to the Appalachian Fair, the best days to go heat wise are tomorrow and Wednesday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Saturday!

Less humid conditions are always desirable this time of year, as temperatures don’t normally drop too much in August. Dew points have hit the 50’s, and that means we’re seeing more tolerable August weather. That continues tomorrow, before things start to heat back up later in the week. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Partly cloudy to mostly clear, nice and cool. Low 57.

Tuesday-Mostly sunny. High 85.

Tuesday night-Partly cloudy. Low 62.

Wednesday-Mostly sunny, maybe a shower or storm in the mountains. High 87.

Thursday-Mostly sunny, a slight chance of rain, mainly in the higher terrain. High 89.

Friday-Mostly sunny and hot, with a small chance of a shower or thunderstorm. High 91.

Saturday-Partly cloudy, a couple showers and thunderstorms possible. High 92.

High pressure is currently right over Cincinnati, Ohio, right now, and that’s helping us cool down and dry out today. We actually only reached 81 degrees today, two below forecast and four below normal! We’ll surge back toward our average temperature at 85 for tomorrow, and we’ll surpass that by Wednesday and be back in the August heat late in the week.

As far as rain is concerned for the Appalachian Fair, you’ve got no problems tonight (if you’re reading this while it’s still open, naturally!), tomorrow night, and most likely Wednesday night will be dry as well. There’s always one afternoon or evening that gets rain at the fair, at least. That day will happen either Thursday, Friday or Saturday, and might happen more than once between those days.

Heat might still be a factor, so make sure you get in Commercial Building #1 and visit the WHCB and Love FM booth while you’re there! Not far away from us, you can get water and there might even be a puppet singing show, too. Make sure to get in that building if you feel yourself getting too hot at the fair.

I’ll have another update tomorrow, probably later in the day. We’re updating live from the Fair on all of our stations! Listen to WHCB 91.5 FM from 3-4pm, Top Gun Radio 870am and 100.7 FM all day, and Love FM 100.3 and 103.3, as well as 1090 AM and 1230 AM from 4pm to 8pm and we’ll tell you what’s going on from the Appalachian Fair all week long!

Before I go, almanac information. Today is the driest August 22 in history! Helps that we’ve had no rain!

Temperatures: Sunday; high 79, low 71. Monday; High 81, Low 61. Tuesday Averages; High 85, Low 62.

Rainfall: None today; August 3.21″, +0.63″; for 2016, 24.14″, -4.42″.
