August 8, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 8, 2016

Scattered clouds haven’t done that good of a job keeping us cool today. The 4pm reading at the airport was 91 degrees. Some rain is around, and we’ll see at least some chance of rain each day the rest of this week. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

There does happen to be a lot of temperature variability today. East of the Tri-Cities, temperatures in spots are in the low 70’s. In the mountains to the north, we’re talking close to 80, while everyone else is in the upper 80’s to near 90. We should top out pretty close to 90 each afternoon for a while. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers, maybe a thunderstorm. Low 71.

Tuesday-Partly to mostly sunny. A few showers and storms are possible. Highs near 90.

Tuesday night-Partly cloudy, a stray shower or storm is possible mainly in the evening. Lows near 70.

Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny and hot. Only a couple scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. High 92.

Thursday-Partly cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 88.

Friday-Partly cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 88.

There won’t be any fronts moving through or any of that in the coming days, other than low pressure to our south. So occasionally, we’ll see a bump up in chances of rain, mainly late this week. Some of the showers and storms could be heavy at times, so be aware of potential flash flooding.

From the looks of things, the best chance of a lot of rain in the next five days is east of the Tri-Cities, mainly in Western North Carolina. Thanks to all those mountains, a lot of rain can turn into flooding in a big hurry. So if you’re anywhere that floods regularly in the Tri-Cities, be aware that storms could produce a lot of rain when they pop up.

However, it does appear that a lot of the day tomorrow and Wednesday will be mainly dry. Hence temperatures at or above 90 for the next two days. With more clouds and possible rain late this week, hopefully we’ll only get up to the upper 80’s for Thursday and Friday.

I’l have another look at the weekend weather starting tomorrow. Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great evening!
