August 3, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 3, 2016

There have been quite a bit more clouds than I expected today, but temperatures still are rather hot, with 91 degrees on the thermometer just before 4pm. Typical summer weather for sure, and that will continue for a while! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Sunday!

A few scattered showers are around, mainly in Southwest Virginia and the mountains along the Tennessee/North Carolina border as we approach 5pm. Clouds will likely hang tough tonight, but we should see a decent amount of sunshine tomorrow. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Cloudy skies, with a few showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Lows near 70.

Thursday-Partly sunny, with a few afternoon showers and storms possible. High 88.

Thursday night-Scattered evening showers and storms, otherwise partly cloudy. Low 67.

Friday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with occasional showers and storms. High 88.

Saturday-Partly cloudy, with scattered showers and storms. High 88.

Sunday-A mostly sunny day, only a small chance of rain. Highs near 90.

Low pressure that is way out west in the Rockies will zip across the country in the coming days, from Montana tonight to Lake Michigan tomorrow, with a cold front extending south and west of that. That front will move through here on Saturday, bringing a better chance for showers and storms starting on Friday.

So tomorrow, expect more of the same summer weather. Sunny and hot, with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm to cool things off. Then Friday, we’ll have more clouds and scattered showers and storms off and on during the day. The same can be said for Saturday, as the cold front moves through here at that time.

Temperatures should top out in the upper 80’s to close to 90 in the coming days, with lows in the upper 60’s to near 70.  Sunday should be mostly dry, and that will shoot temperatures back up once again toward the 90 degree range.

Typical summer weather, indeed. So while there’s no rain (if there isn’t any where you are), get out and enjoy it for a little while! Just remember to wear sunscreen, and scramble indoors if you hear thunder!
