August 2, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

August 2, 2016

There was rain this morning, and there’s rain moving through this afternoon as well. And that means the difference between Virginia exit 13 and Tennessee exit 63, about 25 miles apart, is ten degrees! Rain is coming to northeast Tennessee soon, though. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Saturday!

At just before 5pm, the temperature was 78 degrees in Abingdon, where rain just occurred. At the Tri-Cities Airport, with no rain since early morning, it was 88 degrees. It’s about 25 miles worth of Interstate 81 between the two, and 21 miles in a straight line! We’ll continue to see similar things happen with scattered showers and storms in the coming days. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Partly cloudy with some scattered showers and storms, and patchy fog late. Low 68.

Wednesday-Mostly sunny, only a few scattered showers around, mainly dry. Highs near 90.

Wednesday night-Partly cloudy, a couple evening showers. Low 68.

Thursday-Partly sunny, with a few scattered showers and storms. High 88.

Friday- Partly sunny, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 88.

Saturday-Partly cloudy, with some scattered storms as well. High 88.

That same old summer weather pattern continues, with a front that just gets through here, then either dies out or goes north as a warm front not long thereafter. We’ll see a very weak cold front move through tomorrow, then a new cold front will bring better chances of rain Friday and Saturday.

Tomorrow, we should stay mostly dry, and hot. Thursday will feature a couple more showers and storms before the new front approaches on Friday.

Each day will feature a lot of things…it’ll be sunny and hot at times, some will get rain and some will not. Early August tends to be like that around here! However, Friday and Saturday’s storms will be more numerous and there’s a good chance at more clouds each day keeping us a little cooler.

That’ll do it for now! My next forecast will be up around this time tomorrow, or shortly after that. Have a great evening!
