July 13, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

July 13, 2016

We are rain free across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia this afternoon. That’s allowing for temperatures to get up to near 90 in spots, with upper 80’s in most locations. We’ll have another hot day tomorrow, but storms are coming that may cool us off a little bit this weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Sunday!

As usual, it’s best to head to the mountains on another hot summer day. Temperatures are in the low 80’s up there and quite nice as the heat is on down in the valleys. That will continue to be the place to be if you want to escape the heat and stay outdoors, especially tomorrow. Here’s the outlook for the next four days:

Tonight-Partly cloudy with a small chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Low 68.

Thursday-Mostly sunny, with a few showers and storms possible late. High 92.

Thursday night-Partly cloudy, a few showers and storms scattered around. Low 68.

Friday-Partly cloudy with a few showers and storms. High 88.

Saturday-Scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 86.

Sunday-Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers and storms. Highs near 90.

A weak cold front in the upper Midwest will eventually make its way toward us Friday night and Saturday. Between now and then, expect normal summertime chances of afternoon showers and storms. As the front gets close, mainly Friday night and Saturday, scattered storms become more likely.

Most of tomorrow looks sunny and dry, so I’ve boosted temperatures up a bit accordingly, into the low 90’s. With more clouds, Friday and Saturday should be cooler. Scattered showers and storms are still possible Sunday, but that should be the better weekend day the way things look right now.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, stay cool and have a great evening!
