July 11, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

July 11, 2016

Clouds have crept in during this Monday, but temperatures are pretty much on track as we approach 4pm. A couple storms have popped up to the east of Boone, North Carolina, but that’s about it so far today. We’ll have storms occasionally through Friday, but we’ll have nothing organized to talk about through most of this week. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

Temperatures are in the mid to upper 80’s in the Tri-Cities right now. There’s still a chance for some warmth to add to those temperatures for the next few hours. The mountains are cooler, as usual, with Western North Carolina close to 80 or just below that, with low 80’s going on in the highlands of Southwest Virginia. We’ll flirt with 90 in the coming days in the Tri-Cities, with a few storms. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Partly cloudy, an evening thunderstorm is possible in the mountains. Low 67.

Tuesday-Partly cloudy. Some scattered showers and storms are possible in the afternoon and evening. High 87.

Tuesday night-Storms diminishing after dark, partly cloudy from then on. Low 68.

Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny, only a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. High 89.

Thursday-Partly to mostly sunny, maybe a pop-up thunderstorm in the afternoon. Highs near 90.

Friday-Partly cloudy, a few showers and storms scattered around from time to time. High 89.

Normal summer weather rules apply this week. A weak cold front that is currently in the northern Plains will drift our way in the coming days. It will finally get here, or try to, by Saturday morning. If it does, it won’t get far to our south before it returns as a warm front late this weekend.

That said, expect summertime pop-up showers and storms to happen each afternoon through Thursday, with better chances tomorrow. Not everyone will get rain each day, however. As the cold front nears late in the week, more storms will be possible on Friday and Friday night.

The cold front won’t change much, and as it goes back north of us next week, the hot and humid air will be what we can look forward to for a while as summer continues.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great evening!
