June 16, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

June 16, 2016

It’s a sunny day, but there are some clouds around. Most of the rain is well to our northeast and well to our southwest as of almost 4:30pm. There will be a cold front moving through tonight, so therefore a chance of rain will exist for tonight and tomorrow before we get some dry weather for the weekend. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Monday!

As we enter the late afternoon hours, things are heating up, as usual. We’re in the mid 80’s in the Tri-Cities, with folks in the mountains closer to 80. To our west and southwest, a lot of folks are already flirting with 90 degrees as we still have a lot of hours of sunlight left. Storms will fire up northwest of us, and we may see those tonight. Here’s the forecast:

Tonight-Partly to mostly cloudy, a few scattered showers and storms in spots. Low 65.

Friday-Cloudy, light rain or drizzle possible if that, perhaps an afternoon thunderstorm. Cooler, with highs near 80.

Friday night-Decreasing clouds. Low 58.

Saturday-Mostly sunny. High 85.

Sunday-Mostly sunny. High 84.

Monday-Mostly sunny. High 85.

The aforementioned cold front is located over Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois right now, extending out into the Plains. The eastern segment of that will be making its way into Southwest Virginia in the next few hours, and will be all the way through our area by morning. So as that happens, expect some rainfall, and maybe a couple storms tonight through the day tomorrow. Clouds will hang tough for a while on Friday.

Those clouds move out of here tomorrow night, clearing the way for a nice, sunny weekend! We’ll have afternoon temperatures topping out in the mid 80’s for Saturday through Monday. In fact, computer models are showing low pressure developing off the Georgia/South Carolina coast and moving north early next week, so that will help keep afternoon storms at bay for the most part as well if that turns out.

So, get out  there and enjoy it this weekend, as things look quite nice from Saturday all the way into Tuesday.

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great evening!
