May 22, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 22, 2016

We’ve enjoyed some cool temperatures recently, at least compared to what we’re going to see this week. Temperatures progress farther into the 80’s as we go along in this week’s Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast! Let’s start with the outlook, shall we?

Tonight-A few scattered showers, mainly partly cloudy. Lows near 50.

Monday-Partly to mostly sunny for most, a small chance of rain north and east of the Tri-Cities. High 75.

Monday night-Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Low 52.

Tuesday-Mostly sunny. High 82.

Wednesday-Partly to mostly sunny, a couple showers or storms possible late. High 84.

Thursday-Mostly sunny, a slight chance of rain or a thunderstorm in the afternoon. High 86.

Friday-Mostly sunny, a few afternoon showers and storms popping up. High 88.

Low pressure off the East Coast is wrapping moisture in here from the north, and that’s why we’re seeing some rain showers. It won’t be anything too heavy, and as that low moves east, the rain will move with it. There could still be rain showers during the day tomorrow, but most of them should be gone by mid-afternoon.

After that, we enjoy a full dry day on Tuesday, with warm temperatures as we return to the 80’s. The rest of the week will progressively get warmer, as afternoon highs reach the mid-80’s for Wednesday and Thursday, and then the upper 80’s by Friday.

Along with that will come our typical summer trend, a small chance of pop-up afternoon showers and storms. If you’ve lived around here for any length of time, you probably know what that means. I have to say that there’s a small chance of rain every day, but for most of us, it simply won’t rain. I get stories a lot about how it rained at one location and was bone dry just a couple miles away and didn’t rain a drop. That’s the kind of thing we’ll see late this week. So don’t be all that surprised in the heat of the day if you hear a rumble of thunder or get rain. You’ll hear me with that forecast a lot from here to September!

Thanks for checking here for the forecast, have a great week!
