May 15, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 15, 2016

We didn’t get much rainfall on Saturday, and it turned into a beautiful but chilly weekend. We’ll warm back up in the coming days, with rain chances starting Tuesday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for this week!

A record low was broken this morning, as we dropped to 35 degrees! That beat our coldest morning in the recorded history of May 15 by two degrees. The previous record was 37 degrees from 1984. As it always seems to be around here, it won’t be too cold for too long. Here’s the forecast to prove it!

Tonight-Partly cloudy, still chilly, possible morning frost. Low 39.

Monday-Partly to mostly sunny. Highs near 70.

Monday night-Partly cloudy. Low 48.

Tuesday-Partly to mostly cloudy, some scattered showers or storms are possible. High 73.

Wednesday-Partly cloudy, with a few scattered showers and storms. High 72.

Thursday-Partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. High 74.

Friday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 78.

Low pressure in the Southwest looks to be our next rain maker as it comes out into Texas and Oklahoma tomorrow, combining with a stationary front near the Gulf Coast. All of that will come up into the Smokies by Tuesday night, bringing up rain chances with it starting Tuesday afternoon.

It won’t rain all day or all night anywhere through the period, but a few showers and storms are possible also on Wednesday, with a slight chance on Thursday as the front moves out. A new cold front develops Friday in East Texas, and will bring more rain chances late Friday afternoon, but better chances of rain appear for Friday night and Saturday.

Join me for Sullivan South Rebel Baseball tomorrow as they travel to Greeneville to take on the Greene Devils. It’s the semifinal round of the Region I tournament, and an elimination game! We’ll start coverage at 5:55 pm tomorrow on Top Gun Radio, 870 AM and 100.7 FM, and also online through Tune In or the Tune In app on your phone. You won’t be able to listen at the game (at least not over the air), but it will be a beautiful night for baseball if you want to head out to Pioneer Park at Tusculum College. The Rebels have had good luck there in the past couple years!

My next forecast comes up mid-afternoon tomorrow before I head down for the game. Have a great week!
