May 13, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 13, 2016

The sun has indeed come out across the area today, good news after severe thunderstorms rolled through late yesterday afternoon! We may see a new round of showers and possible storms on Saturday afternoon, but otherwise, things are dry through much of Monday. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for this weekend!

Temperatures across the area this afternoon are comfortable, with highs at the airport around 73 degrees. Some folks were able to get only into the mid 60’s by late afternoon up in the higher elevations, though. Either way, it’s been a pleasant day, with rain leaving…but not for long. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Partly cloudy. Low 47.

Saturday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with a couple scattered showers and storms, mainly north of the Tri-Cities. High 73.

Saturday night-Partly cloudy to mostly clear and chilly. Lows near 40…higher elevations closer to freezing.

Sunday-Mostly sunny and cool. High 64.

Monday-Partly to mostly sunny, rain chances increasing in the afternoon, but best chances of storms overnight. high 68.

A cold front is currently over Lake Michigan, stretching through Wisconsin and Iowa and through Kansas and Colorado, with low pressure in Idaho and Montana. That cold front will move through here toward noon tomorrow. So with that will be a chance of rain showers with a possible thunderstorm or two. The farther south you are may see less rain with this system, though.

After mid-afternoon, Saturday’s weather will dry out into the nighttime hours. It will be quite cool, with temperatures dropping into the 30’s in many spots. Sunday will be sunny and cool.

Clouds start to mix with sun on Monday as a low pressure develops in the southwest and starts to shoot out into the southern Plains. That may start to insert rain into our area late Monday afternoon, but it appears the best chances of rain will be Monday night and into Tuesday.

If you’re headed out for baseball on Monday night, it looks interesting at this point. I’ll have more information on that with my forecast Sunday evening. Have a great weekend!
